Overview

United Pipeline Systems is seeking a Shop Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the fabrication shop operation, fleet management and building maintenance
  • Maintain schedule and reporting activities to meet demand while working with Scheduling, Management and Design
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained and serviced, as well as monitor and approve building maintenance by working with management to identify and oversee capital expenditure needs
  • Plan, direct, coordinate, control manufacturing and logistic activities including equipment, tooling and supply load out for field crews
  • Accountable for the performance and safety of employees working in the shop, and overall quality of the products being manufactured
  • Responsible for meeting product deadlines through timely production and shipment.
  • Ensure completion of all proper documentation
  • Manage the Load Out Sheets by reviewing after the PM’s release to ensure accuracy and following through the process to meet deadlines and expectations
  • Work with Project Management and Engineering/R&D to schedule projects and manage delivery and performance expectations
  • Control overhead and shop rate by managing financial accounts, labor coding and procurement processes
  • Ensure company procedures, DOT policies and other required standard work instructions are followed
  • Monitor material inventory and inventory consumables
  • Provide overall logistic support including international support, equipment, manufacturing requests, technical support, and control of commercial invoices
  • Assist Project Manager to facilitate cost reduction projects through implementation
  • Provide support with estimating, trucking, and assisting with hotel booking and other logistics
  • Communicate with Superintendents for feedback on project load out success and make necessary improvements
  • Make recommendations for hiring, transfers, dismissal, and promotions by partnering with HR, as well as supervise Shop Foreman and the Equipment Manager/Coordinator
  • Ensure ongoing training and mentoring with new hires and existing employees

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related field preferred
  • 7 years of fabrication shop operation, fleet management or building maintenance experience in manufacturing environment including managing Welding, Machine Shop and Diesel Mechanics
  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience motivating and empowering staff, as well as making staff management decisions 
  • Experienced in safety aspects related to manufacturing process flow
  • Excellent organizational skills with flexibility to change paths to meet project demands
  • Experience with Microsoft Office required, as well ability to work with complex spreadsheets, databases and presentation software
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
