Corrpro is seeking an experienced Industrial Construction Safety Manager to add to the San Diego or Santa Fe Springs, California team.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in safety and health pre-qualification surveys, projects planning, and post project reviews.
  • Develop project specific safety plans.
  • Work actively with clients and project teams to mitigate safety risk.
  • Monitor and enter data in the company and client driven databases, OSCA/ASAP, Complyworks, ISNetworld.
  • Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices through frequent projects on-site engagements and audits. 
  • Prepare compliance summaries, identify opportunities, and provide recommendations. 
  • Prepare and deliver safety training and assist with new employee’s orientation. 
  • Chair safety meetings, webinars, monthly committees, etc.
  • Administer the PPE and safety equipment programs for the area of responsibility.
  • Maintain local Safety and Health permits required for the company operation.
  • Steward safety suggestions, concerns, and complaints evaluation and resolution.
  • Collaborate with others in the development, implementation, and administration of occupational health and safety programs.  
  • Monitor the safety and health regulatory changes and the impact over local operations including California Code of Regulations, Federal OSHA, and DOT. 
  • Prepare and conduct annual audits required by the company, applicable clients, or industry associations.  Assist other Regional Safety Managers.
  • Work with management, supervisors, frontline workers, and customers to identify and correct unsafe conditions
  • Monitor leading and lagging indicators identifying trends and required actions to prevent incidents. Prepare specific recommendations prevent Serious Injuries and Fatalities.
  • Conduct incident investigations, prepare reports, and work with multidisciplinary teams to identify learnings and implement corrective actions.
  • Work with the DOT manager and operations to maintain fleet safety.  Monitor driving reports and address opportunities.  Conduct defensive driving training.
  • Administer the local incentive program

Qualifications

  • Seven years of safety experience in Construction, Oil and Gas, Utilities, Chemical or Manufacturing.  Other combinations of academic degrees and experience might be considered.
  • Interpersonal skills to work with different organizational levels and interest to work in a diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills to address diverse levels in the organization
  • Strong time management and analytical skills
  • Experienced delivering presentations to frontline workers and preparing written reports and delivering presentations to management using a variety of technologies and software.
  • Working knowledge of Federal OSHA regulations and Cal OSHA Construction Safety Orders, including excavations, fall protection, confined space, and electrical safety.
  • Experience in the implementation of construction industry standards and best practices.
  • Experience managing safety related databases
  • Able to work in the field between 30% to 50% of the time visiting project sites in California, and out of the State sites and company offices as needed.  
  • Available to be on-call after business hours.
  • Must possess a valid CA driver’s license.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years of Safety Manager experience in construction projects  
  • OSHA Authorized Instruction for Construction or General Industry 500, 501.  First Aid CPR Trainer and Defensive Driver Trainer
  • Industry certifications (e.g., ASP, CHST, CIT, CSP, CIH, etc.)
