Overview

United Pipeline is seeking a Machinist Shop Supervisor to supervise and coordinate projects and personnel for all machining related tasks in the Durango Shop facility.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate all Machine Shop projects to determine type of work required and materials, manpower and equipment to be used.
  • Supervise the operation of machinery and equipment as required.
  • Scheduling of load out sheets promptly as they are posted.
  • Keep current both manufacturing and shop schedules. Estimate and report worker hour requirements for completion dates to Operations Manager.
  • Ordering of tools and materials needed to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules and make purchasing recommendations. Follow requisition and purchase order policies.
  • Interpret company policies as applied to employees and enforce safety regulations, standard operating procedures and quality standards.
  • Conduct weekly safety/toolbox meetings.
  • Interpret job order requirements and instruct crew on how to fulfill the job orders.
  • Recommend and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, crew productivity and quality of product.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist other department managers in solving work problems.
  • Schedule work two weeks in advance.
  • Machine tool equipment repair and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Make crew hiring/termination/compensation decisions.
  • Schedule and supervise subcontractors on work quality and safety policies.
  • All other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; a minimum of five years related training
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience in machining
  • Candidates must be fluid with CNC programming, setup, and operation
  • High ability to operate computer CAD software
  • Extensive experience with manual lathe and mil
  • Existing ability or able to quickly learn the setup and operation of all machines in the department.
  • Ability to read, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures or manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
