Overview

Aegion Coating Services is looking for an experienced Field Technician V for an Offshore Pipelay Project in DW GoM.

Responsibilities

 

The Field Technician V will operate, troubleshoot, service and maintain all electro-mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems during field service work assignments, assure safe and proper use of equipment and satisfactory completion of the job and prepare reports in accordance with established quality control procedures. As well as supervision of other technicians and coordination with client and maintaining customer relationships while on the job site.

 

The Field Technician V reports to the Operations Manager or Project Manager, Field Services.

  • Able to read and interpret basic mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Excellent written, oral and electronic communication skills.
  • Operate and monitor robotic equipment and production systems
  • Troubleshoot issues  
  • Dismantle device to remove, repair or replace defective parts
  • Lubricate, clean and test devices to maintain performance
  • Utilize multi-meter to test fuses, power, ohms current and motors
  • Identify and obtain all items in preparation phase of a project
  • Project Superintendent responsibilities on projects sites; prepare project reports, make decisions onsite, work/communicate with customers, and supervise and manage performance of other field technicians onsite
  • Oversee all facets of field operation
  • Must be familiar with industry related coatings applications systems of various style
  • Must be able to perform basic destructive and non-destructive testing for coatings and interpretation of data

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of equipment generation, supervision or equivalent, and Industrial or pipeline coatings applications experience in related field
  • Technical courses or degree in Electronics, Aeronautics, Automotive, Mechatronics or Mechanical Technologies preferred
  • Mechanical operation, troubleshooting and repair experience
  • Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) and Liquid coating experience
  • NACE CIP II certification required
  • Onshore and offshore work experience required
  • Internal Diameter (ID) and Outer Diameter (OD) coating experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Travel internationally or domestically to support our oil, gas, mining or utility industry customers, this is a traveling position up to 85% of the year. Actual time on site may vary depending on project demands
  • Meet and exceed all internal safety standards
  • Have or ability to obtain passport
  • Eligible to obtain any necessary international work visa
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer other than your current employer
  • Able to read and interpret basic mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Excellent written, oral and electronic communication skills
  • Language Skills: Fluent in English; and any other language is a plus.
  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists and interpret various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to electrical and moving mechanical parts of equipment, tools and machinery.  The employee must be aware of when to wear personal safety protective gear.   • lift and/or move up to 65 pounds at any given time. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  Frequent driving is required.
  • Work Environment: Work site will vary from outside in the elements or in a shop environment. The noise level will vary from moderate to loud.  Employee will be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
