Responsibilities

 

The Area Operations Manager will be responsible for establishing objectives, developing strategic plans for Engineering and Construction services within an assigned division, ensuring operational goals are aligned with corporate goals and projects are executed on time and on budget.

 

Reports to the Vice President and General Manager, Corrpro

 

Supervises Operations Managers within assigned division.

 

  • Lead Safety Stewardship Culture
  • Direct the operations of the business and ensure a growing, profitable revenue stream through achievement of divisional profit goals and overall cost management within major service lines and through effectively managing divisional general and administrative goals, collaborating with the business development team

  • Using a collaborative management style, lead divisional team to achieve and exceed targets in all areas of the business including productivity, quality, resources, scheduling, maintenance and safety
  • Provide business mentorship to operations managers within the assigned division regarding corporate policy and objectives, setting expectations and routinely monitoring performance
  • Plan and manage people resources through strategic and effective staffing, performance management and pay practices
  • Assist in the formulation of policy, and development and implementation of new operational strategies and procedures to positively impact divisional and overall operations
  • Interface with sales and marketing to successfully drive business growth and customer retention
  • Develop and maintain industry leading estimating and operating terms at each location within the division to ensure budgeted profitability
  • Establish and execute short and long term goals, strategies and action plans, operating budgets etc., to grow divisional profitability
  • Build successful business relationships through client interaction and effective project execution
  • Work hand-in-hand with the Sales, the Director of Construction Services and the Director of Engineering to drive standards, processes, asset management, and best practices across the company. Additionally, collaborate and steward the Pipeline Services and Coatings Services teams to drive growth.
  • Have accountability for P&L for the division including revenues, gross profit, overhead expense, and operating income.
  • Maintain active corporate safety programs within area of accountability
  • Ensuring that a workforce plan that supports the business is executed and employees are developed throughtout the division by operations managers.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree either in Business, Natural Science or Engineering related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years proven successful experience in a management capacity.  10+ years prior track record of successfully managing a business unit with significant profit and loss responsibility. 
  • A balanced driven management focus capable of developing strong internal relationships. 
  • Extensive experience in the corrosion industry or in a technical industrial services industry.
  • Strong change management experience, with track record of successfully planning and delivering projects or programs.

Language Skills:

 

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; draft reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; effectively present information to individuals or groups (management, clients, customers, general public) and respond to questions

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations and apply basic statistical, algebraic and geometric concepts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volumes, etc.

Reasoning Skills:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists and interpret various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Leadership Skills:

  • The successful candidate will demonstrate strong change management experience, with track record of successfully planning and delivering projects or programs. Experience in strategic planning and execution. Highly effective team player, capable of assuming different roles, concerned with developing others and building and maintaining cohesive relationships. Goal achievement through delegation and follow-up. Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures. Proven ability to steward a safety culture and drive business result

Team Development

  • Proven record of developing and collaborating with multi-disciplined teams, maintaining accountability and holding others accountable, empowering teams to perform their best work to the highest standards of operational excellence.

 

Computer-Based:

  • Ability to work with complex spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software. Ability to learn new applications quickly. Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Power Point) required.
