    • Application of regulatory procedures/requirements and standards.
    • Monitors daily work practices utilized by Brinderson and/or contractors/subcontractors.
    • Confers with superintendents and craft supervisors on HSE matters requiring conformance with Brinderson, client, and governmental requirements. Reviews these practices with immediate supervisor and recommends corrective action.
    • Stops work in imminent danger situations or conditions having imminent adverse environmental impact. Recommends to supervisor that Notices of Non-Compliance be issued, follows up to ensure corrective actions, as stipulated and approved by the supervisor, are implemented.
    • Assists, as assigned, in accident investigations, regulatory compliance audits, project health surveys, and insurance audits. Prepares reports and takes photographs as required.
    • Researches, prepares, and assists in conducting environmental, safety, health, and fire orientation/training programs for project personnel.
    • Prepares for approval by the supervisor, project environmental, safety, health, and fire reports as required by the Brinderson Safety Program.
    • Attends meetings to communicate HSE program issues.
    • Administers first aid treatment as qualified and assigned and participates as a member of the project emergency response team.
    • Monitors project compliance with project execution plan.
    • Institutes behavior based safety programs and initiatives.
    • Monitors hazardous waste management, soil erosion and sedimentation control, re-vegetation, and other environmental issues as directed.
    • Executes all other HSE duties as assigned by HSE management.
    • Helps prepare reports and studies of a technical nature.
    • Hires temporary and permanent personnel as required to meet work load demands
    • Oversees the administrative needs of direct report personnel
    • Establishes processes to orientate all new personnel relative to:
      • Safety / Hazard Analysis
      • Process safety awareness
      • Unit safety and awareness
    • Responsible to administer subcontract relationships as needed
    • Provides periodic feedback on subordinates and makes recommendations for improvement and wage adjustments


    • Bachelors Degree in Health, Safety and Environment Management or related science/engineering area preferred; and/or Associates Degree or equivalent experience/training in addition to experience leading to the thorough understanding of the knowledge described above.
    • Must have the experience and ability to perform technical safety and health tasks, sampling, worker monitoring activities, and environmental compliance monitoring with limited supervision.
    • Knowledge of HSE functions and HSE Core Processes.
    • Experience in safety engineering, health physics, industrial hygiene, or environmental compliance activities.
    • Knowledge of governmental HSE standards, procedures, rules, and regulations.
    • Skills in verbal and written communication.
    • Basic knowledge of software applications creating spreadsheets with mathematical functions, and enhancing presentation reports.
    • Ability to perform Inspections/Audits/Assessments
    • Experience in Hazard Recognition, Evaluation & Control
    • Experience in General Safety & Health Compliance
    • Working knowledge of computers and automated information systems for safety
    • Knowledge of Safety Rules and Regulations, Client & Company Policy
    • Reading, writing and hearing for giving and receiving directions to perform work and/or safety policy
    • Knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements for compliance to governmental and industry safety objectives.
    • Ability to effectively communicate with management and supervisory staff
